Its been a while!

Mucho tiempo ha pasado sin publicar nuevo info., pero muchas cosas han estado ocurriendo aquí. Por desgracia, el CSA y la producción de productos se ha detenido porque tenía que volver a mi ciudad de Miami. Pero nuestros planes es la de reorganizar la finca en una cooperativa deagricultor que quieren crecer, pero no tienen tierra, apicultores que quieren más colmenas, o otros ideas que se puden aplicarlas con tener el espacio y los recursos para hacerlo .

Much time has passed with no new post and info., but much has been going on here.. Unfortunately the CSA and the production of produce has stopped because I had to return to Miami my home town. But our plans is to rearrange the farm into a co-op for agriculturalist who want to grow but don't have land, Bee keepers who want more hives, or any other interest that can apply there ideas have the space and resources to do so.

Gracias a nuestro personal increíble Denise, Zonia y otros que han ayudado en el cuidado de los jardines, plantas ornamentales, así comonuestros compañeros de la puesta de huevos, la finca está listo para llegar a su potencial!

Thanks to our amazing staff Denise, Zonia and others that have helped out in taking care of the grounds, ornamental plants as well as our egg laying buddies the farm is ready to get to its potential!

Algunos de nuestros nuevos proyectos actuales incluyen:
1) Preparación del invernadero de los demás para arrendar (con riegoinstalado y bancos)
2) Trabajando en asociación con The Fish and Wildlife Services para laconservación de los animales y mucho más.
3) Plantación de café de sombra
4) Organizar de manera que la finca puede ser un centro de acogida para los demás para llevar a cabo talleres y conferencias.

Some of our current new projects include:
1) Preparing the greenhouse's for others to lease out (with fully installed irrigation and benches)
2) Working in partnership with The Fish and Wildlife Services for animal conservation and more.
3) Planting shade grown coffee
4) Organizing so that the farm can be a host facility for others to conduct workshops and lectures.

Sandia Peppers, Cal Green Bell Pepper, Emerald Velvet Okra, Cour Di Bue Italian Heirloom Tomato (beautiful slicer) & Mini White Cucumbers (even though they are yellow).

Kang-Kong (Water Spinach), Georgia Southern Collard Greens/Col and Tasty Jade Cucumbers/Pepinillos on trellis.

Red and Yellow Thai Watermelon and Papaya, Sandia y Papaya

Hibiscus Sabdariffa aka Red Sorrel, Red Drop Hibiscus, Flor di Jamaica. Used in many cultures for herbal tea hot or cold. Pretty much all parts of the plant are edible.

Different style of beds..

This was Cielo Verde's First Bed it is made using No Till or Sheet mulching aka Lasagna Gardening Technique. We began it in January, and had great results. We're finishing up our first season with plenty of Roma and Beefsteak Tomato's, Pumpkin, Cucumbers, Basil and Hot Peppers. The pictures pretty much sums it up. This bed "The horse Shoe Bed" is going to become a perennial flower, butterfly and herb patch..

This is the Back House Beds. They are designed using the double digging technique also known as bio intensive. Since the soil in this area was covered for more than 5 years and was super hard and compacted we tweaked the rules on double digging and completed the beds our own way. We dug out the entire bed and mixed it with horse manure and on site compost. This is what we got! This area receives more shade than needed for veggies so it will be used for greens and herbs. (above)

These are the newest and biggest beds. There are 6, 5x75ft beds. This is where we'll grow the bulk of the food for the CSA. These beds were made using the traditional tilling style, and are 6 inch deep and 4 inch up made with compost, manure and mulch. This growing area has a living fence around it made with Dracena's aka Makaco here in Puerto Rico.
